Here Comes the Bride...Woof!

Over at Weddingstyle.com, there's a cute post about doggy accessories for your pooch. Anything goes on your wedding day, and that includes being able to include your bestest furry friend in the festivities.

I'm all for it. As long as both the bride and groom are comfortable, it can be a heartwarming, fun, and funny way to show the world how much your pet is part of the family.

The Office's Pam's Wedding Dress!

A visit over to David's Bridal gives us a sneak peek at Pam's (from the TV series, The Office), wedding dress. She's all set to finally marry Jim on this week's show - and for all you romantics who have waited years for this moment, here is THE DRESS.

It is indeed a David's Bridal dress - in keeping with her character, she will opt for a budget conscious frock that goes for $399. Her bridesmaids will also be donned in David's Bridal wear, which can be seen here, and retail for about $145. Apparently, they will be going with the silver color.

In this crazy economy, it'll be nice to see a wedding portrayed with a realistic budget. Too many episodes of Platinum Weddings can swipe at a bride to be's confidence that a beautiful event can be pulled off for less than a million bucks!

Now That's A Dress!!

In China this summer, a blushing bride got to wear a dress with the world's longest train - 2,162 meters long! That's almost 1.5 miles people! Nearly 10,000 silk roses were applied.

In today's NY Daily News, a sweet story about a VERY lucky woman who bid on a dream wedding at a country estate. It included a three-course meal for 35, a champagne reception, an evening buffet for 50, table decor and the couple's hotel room. The winning price...$81!!! Apparently, it was a last minute offer from the venue due to a cancellation, so not many bids came in. Talk about LUCKY!

So the fun continues trying to find the time to hunker down with my sweetie, pick a date and start on some early plans. Just when all the holiday madness was beginning to slow, just when the last family member was sent on his merry way, fat and happy - our humble abode is invaded by not one, not two... but FIVE mice in less than a month. I have spent more time leaping onto the sofa, screaming for help than Jamie Lee Curtis could ever muster.

I have to say, not that my sweetie hasn't proved his love many times over, but seeing him lying on the kitchen floor at 4 AM, shining a flashlight and poking under our stove with an unraveled wire hanger trying to get a mouse out who had got himself stuck onto a trap (still alive and squeaking mind you) all in the name of easing my mind, really shows what a keeper I got. So as we all head into wedding planning madness, getting caught up in a million and one details, remember that at the end of the night, when all the guests have gone and the flowers start wilting, all that matters is who you go home with.

So, my sweetie and I are about to finally sit down and talk about setting the all-important wedding date. This is a lot more daunting than I ever imagined. In the movies, the guy gets down on his knees, holds out a ring, and the girl (cue swelling John Williams orchestra) burst into tears (no streaking mascara btw) and...cut scene...we're at a perfectly arranged wedding...

Yet, in reality, trying to figure out a date that doesn't conflict with jobs, graduations, possible re-locations, as well as possible conflicting graduations/births/other weddings/alien abductions of every other immediate family and friend on both sides of the aisle can lead a blushing bride to more resemble this:

Adding to the fun is trying to decide on a winter, spring, summer or fall wedding with all it's accompanied advantages and disadvantages - more on that later...

Good Bridal Sites?

Ok, seriously, where are any good sites for brides and wedding planning? Until I got engaged, I was never the kind of girl who started planning every last detail of her wedding from the age of 8. I has a vague notion of the kind of ring I wanted, but knew nothing of oval vs round brilliants, micro pave, halo vs. solitaire, or the almighty importance of understanding the 4 C's, yada, yada...but when I got the hint from my beloved to start seriously thinking of what I might want, I did what any web savvy young thang would do (or so I thought!) and hit the online surfosphere. Surely there would be tons of organized and informative sites on such a pricey product as engagement rings, I thunk to myself! But instead, I spent countless hours slogging through crap and more crap. The high end sites like Cartier, Tiffany et al., show you all of ten or so rings, every one of them overly designed with their anally specific trademark settings to prevent - god-forbid - anyone from mistaking that you were not indeed wearing a Harry Winston every time you flutter your hand across your face!

There are also a number of online stores that seem catered for those seeking to emulate a ring Paris Hilton might wear after she lost the last ounce of good taste that clings to her soul. All in all, a very frustrating project. The only really handy site I found was Pricescope - not very pretty to look at, but their, "Show Me The Ring" section in forums was a great way to look and talk about tons of rings.

I'm just beginning to look at the wedding planning sites, and again, not very much to shout about frankly. Besides the biggies such as The Knot and Brides.Com , I haven't come across a really well organized, fun site to use. Any suggestions out there?
